  1. Peel the carrots and cut them into thin sticks.
  2. Cut the celery into thin sticks as well.
  3. Heat a pan on high.
  4. Throw carrots in first because they need a little more time to cook than celery.
  5. When the oil is well mixed with the celery and carrots, put sugar in.
  6. Next add sake.
  7. Wait for about a minute, and pour soy sauce in.
  8. Make room in the center of the pan and pour soy sauce in there. You can hear a sizzling sound. A little bit burned soy sauce can create a nice mild flavour.
  9. Turn off the heat and sprinkle sesame seeds over top. Kimpira is ready.
